We are currently in Salzburg, and are leaving tomorrow morning for Vienna. The trip over was so long and drawn out. With a stop in Singapore as well as Dubai, then a 5 hour bus trip. It took nearly 2 days all up just to get here. The weather has been really good. Nice and hot during the days, with only rain on this last night. We have done all the “Sound of Music” tours, and the girls have sung in Salzburg Cathedral, and also the church where Maria married in the movie. The acoustics in the church and the cathedral were amazing, making the girls sound even more unbelievable than they usually do.

Summa Cum Laude Results
On Sunday, we attended the Opening Ceremony of the "Summa Cum Laude Festival". Today, Monday 7/7/08, The Girls Competed against 9 other choirs in their category. The choirs they were competing against, were not only extremely good, they were from around the world. Our girls performed their 20 minute repertoire with perfect vocals and precision moves. Surprising even their supporters with their ever improving performances. Tonight we were given the results of the competition.... The girls were awarded 2nd place..... Congratulations Cantabile, we are all very proud of you all, and are so pleased to be here sharing your success. In addition to their 2nd place, they have also been asked to sing tomorrow night at the Gala Winners Concert where they will be presented with their award. The attached photographs are during their outstanding performance in the Famous Musikverein (performance hall) in which they were awarded 2nd place. Following the performance, the girls had a photo shoot in the nearby gardens... enjoy.

...IT'S GOLD !!!
After arriving in Graz, the girls and the supporters participated in the opening parade through the main street, and into the stadium for the opening ceremony. An awe inspiring production performed in front of more than 20000 participants of the World Choir Games.
The following day, was rehearsals, rehearsals, and more rehearsals, in preparation for Friday, when the girls were to compete in all three of the categories they had entered. The category “Youth Choir of Equal Voices” was first, followed by “Gospel”, and finishing off with “Popular” music. After absolutely superb performances from the girls in each of these three categories, the girls were exhausted. The Supporters were extremely proud and happy with their professionalism, conduct, and their ability to perform all three competitions in the same day, while maintaining the high level of performance which we are all accustomed to. Well today we went to the presentation ceremony, and the results are…..

  • Youth Choir of Equal Voices  -  GOLD
  • Gospel  -  SILVER
  • Popular  -  SILVER
CONGRATULATIONS to our girls on such an outstanding result. A true representation of the hard work and dedication they have put into the Choir.
CONGRATULATIONS also to Susan who has given her all to the choir, and for being instrumental in the success of Cantabile.
and CONGRATULATIONS to Andrea for taking up such a responsibility within such a short time, enabling our girls to continue with their success.
With this combination of people, it is no wonder Cantabile has risen to the challenge and won their first ever “GOLD MEDAL”.
